As per the recommendations of the 5^th Central Pay Commission (CPC) in respect of certain Group 'A' statistical functional posts in the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation as contained in para 48.124 as well as in para 81.12 of the report, the following revised cadre strength has been approved by the Government in Higher Administrative Grade(HAG) of Indian Statistical Service(ISS) in the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.

*   Posts are in the pay scale of Rs22400-525-24500/- and designated as Additional Director General(ADG).

^A This post is designated as Director General & Chief Executive Officer [DG& CEO(NSSO)! with the upgraded pay-scale ofRs 22400-600-26000/-.

^{A A} Includes three posts ofADG in the pay scale of Rs22400-S25-24SOO/- and one post of Director General,Central Statistical Organisation (DG,CSO) and ex-officio Special Secretary in the pay scale of Rs 26000/-fixed.

**   Includes one post ofDG,CSO and ex-officio Special Secretary in the pay scale of Us 26000/-fixed. ,onepost ofDG & CEO (NSSO) in the pay scale of Rs. 22400- 600- 26000/- and four posts in the pay-scale of Rs 22400-525-24SOO/-.

2  Details of the 5^th CPC recommendation on the post of Director General, Central Statistical

Organisation (DG,CSO) and approval of the appropriate authorities based on which the above-mentioned revised cadre strength of the HAG of ISS in the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation is made, are recorded below.

   

Para 48.124 " The post of DG,CSO may be given the replacement scale of Rs 8000/-fixed(Rs26000/-fixed) and encodered in the Indian Statistical Service. The DG, CSO would be ex officio Special Secretary to the Govt. of India. "

 

(a)        Deptt. of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance concurred to the proposal of
revival/filling up the post of DG,CSO vide its ID No. 71/E.Coord 1/2001 dated 16^th April, 2001.

(b)      Approval of the Deptt. of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance was obtained
vide their note No.IC U.O.No.81/l/2001-IC dated 4.4.2001 for upgradation of
DG, CSO post to the pay scale ofRs. 26000/-fixed with its encadrement in the ISS with Special Secretary status.

(c)  Approval of the PMOfor upgradation and encadrement of the said post into ISS has been obtained vide PMO U.O.No.310/10/C/l/2000-ES.-Idated2.8.2001.

3. These orders will be effective from the date on which the post of DG,CSO and ex officio Special Secretary is filled up in the appropriate revised pay scale by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation being the Cadre Controlling Authority of ISS.

4. The post of DG,CSO and ex officio Special Secretary in the higher pay scale will be operated only prospectively subject to fiilfillment of the prescribed eligibility criterion and observance of due selection process.

5. Different nomenclature for various posts in HAG level of ISS in the Ministry is under consideration of the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation and appropriate orders will be issued in due course.

6.        The expenditure involved will be debitable to budget head of the Ministry.
