National Sample Survey
The National Sample Survey ( NSS ) was set up in 1950 as a permanent statistical survey organisation of the Government of India . In the Millennium year, it has entered into the 5oth year of its service to the Nation.
To mark the occasion, Golden jubillee Celebrations of the NSS are being launched on 15th May 2000 at 10.00 hrs. at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi by Dr. C. Rangarajan, Hon'ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chairman of the National Statistical Commission. Dr. Arun Shourie, Minister of State for Statistics & Programme Implementation will preside over the function.
The inaugural ceremony will be followed by a Seminar on 'poverty and levels of living'. Prof. Y.K.Alagh will Chair the seminar deliberations. Prof. Suresh Tendulkar and Prof. Nikhilesh Bhattacharya will present invited papers.
